T-Mobile Center Introduces 816 Market, First Store in a Missouri sports and live entertainment venue powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 15, 2022) —T-Mobile Center, Kansas City’s home for sports and live entertainment, has announced the debut of a Just Walk Out shopping experience powered by Amazon. Located at Section 105 on the main concourse, 816 Market is a frictionless shopping experience where guests may enter the store to select snacks and beverages without waiting in line to checkout. They also have the option to enter the store and pay with a hover of their palm using Amazon One.
“816 Market is the first frictionless store location in both a Missouri and Kansas sports and live entertainment venue to employ Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One,” said Jay Cooper, General Manager of T-Mobile Center. “Collaborating with Amazon and Levy to debut a faster concession experience through innovation is an incredible opportunity.”
At the 816 Market, arena guests may enjoy the fast and frictionless shopping experience by entering the store with a dip of their credit card, or a hover of their palm at the entry gates, select their desired items and leave without going through a checkout line or self-serve kiosk. Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology detects what shoppers take from or return to the shelves using sensor fusion, computer vision and deep learning. The credit card the guest inserted or linked to their Amazon One ID will be charged for the items they took after they leave the store.
816 Market sells water, beer, seltzers, soft drinks and other select food and beverage items. Guests aged 21 or older may purchase alcohol by showing their ID to a store attendant for age verification.
“T-Mobile Center has a rich history of hosting some of the most popular events in the US, like NCAA basketball tournaments, world renowned musicians, and top performing artists,” said Dilip Kumar, Vice President, AWS Applications. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with T-Mobile Center and Levy to enable an effortless shopping experience for guests so they can grab what they need and get back to their seats as fast as possible.”
