T-Mobile Center Sustains Record Breaking Pace in 2010
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 13, 2010) -- Pollstar Magazine recently announced that T-Mobile Center has earned ranking of No. 11 among all worldwide venues for the first quarter of 2010. The current issue of the leading industry publication hits newsstands this week also indicates that first quarter attendance has Kansas City’s state of the art venue firmly listed at No. 5 among U.S. concert venues.
“T-Mobile Center’s first quarter of 2010 was jam packed with both concerts and sporting events,” said Brenda Tinnen, AEG Kansas City/T-Mobile Center general manager and senior vice president. “Kansas City continues to build upon a successful 2009 -- from Venue of the Year nominations from Pollstar and the Academy of Country Music to setting records for both highest concert attendance and largest gross.”
On Feb. 27, Elton John and Billy Joel: Face 2 Face set the arena’s highest concert attendance and largest grossing one-event show. The attendance record was broken when 18,045 guests attended an evening with George Strait and Reba on April 9.
Additionally Bon Jovi, Rascal Flatts, Winter Jam and the Black Eyed Peas were among sold out concerts during the first three months of 2010. In addition, T-Mobile Center also hosted sold-out, nationally televised events including the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championships, PBR: Professional Bull Riders and WWE ECW/SMACKdown!
Pollstar maintains an extensive database and collects box office reports from nearly 100 percent of the world’s top-level artists, promoters and venues. The rankings are based on tickets sold for live entertainment performances between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2010.
