T-Mobile Center Welcomes PBR Back This February
Kansas City, Mo. (Oct. 16, 2013) – Neither rain, nor sleet, nor thunder-snow could keep the PBR from Kansas City in 2013 and they’re coming back in 2014.
On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23, the Professional Bull Riders Series heads to KC’s T-Mobile Center for it's tenth consecutive appearance with the Top 35 bull riders in the world and the best bucking bulls in the business.
Each rider will face off with a an opponent nearly 100 times their weight in sinewy brawn during 8-second battles where only one athlete will be left standing. The action begins Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
In 2013, the PBR invitational drew record-breaking crowds to T-Mobile Center for the two-day competition despite a thunder-snow that halted everything in its path, except the PBR. The BFTS expects much of the same in 2014, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early.
Tickets, ranging in price from $15 to $100 will be available to the general public starting Monday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased at the T-Mobile Center box office, www.t-mobilecenter.com or charge by phone at 888.929.7849
The bull riders will each face one bull during Round 1 on Saturday and Round 2 on Sunday. Following Round 2, the Top 10 to 15 riders with the highest cumulative scores on at least two bulls will advance to the Championship Round that same day. The overall event winner will be the rider with the highest-combined score from all three rounds, earning at least $30,000 for first place.
The cream of the crop seems to rise to the top in Kansas City as four of the top five finishers in 2013 are heading into the PBR World Finals at the top of the season standings. Marco Eguchi, Shane Proctor, Mike Lee and Eduardo Aparecido are in the Top 10, each fighting for a chance to be the 2013 PBR World Champion.
Former World Champions, Silvano Alves (2011, 2012), Renato Nunes (2010), Kody Lostroh (2009), Guilherme Marchi (2008) and Mike Lee (2004) are expected to be in the lineup in 2014, as well as the streak-slayer J.B. Mauney, the first man in four years to ride the “unridable” Bushwacker, ending the bull’s record-setting buck off streak at 42 buckoffs.
In addition to great bull riders, the series’ best bulls will also be in attendance. Bushwacker was the featured bonus bull at the 2013 event and extended his record-setting buck off streak during the 15/15 Bucking Battle. The best bulls in the industry compete at each stop including Kansas City.
