T-Mobile Center Opens 2014 As America’s Fourth Busiest Arena

Kansas City, MO (April 14, 2014) – Pollstar Magazine, the leading concert and venue industry publication, released 2014 first quarter rankings for live entertainment and concert ticket sales. In the first quarter issue which hits newsstands this week, T-Mobile Center was named fourth busiest arena in the United States and earned the 14th spot among worldwide venues.

“Being named the fourth busiest arena in the United States is an honor to be celebrated by fans throughout Kansas City and the entire Midwest region,” said Brenda Tinnen, T-Mobile Center/AEG Kansas City general manager and senior vice president. “T-Mobile Center is humbled to begin 2014 with continued success.”

With the exception of T-Mobile Center, located in Kansas City, Mo. three of the top four US venues are located in the northeast (New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia). Fewer than 6,800 tickets separated venues in the second through fourth slots. Pollstar collects box office reports from nearly 100 percent of the world’s top-level artists, promoters and venues. Rankings are based on tickets sold for live entertainment performances between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2014.

On Jan. 18, 2014, T-Mobile Center set a one show attendance record when 19,591 fans witnessed George Strait’s ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ Farewell Tour. In addition to hosting more than 100,000 basketball fans for the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, T-Mobile Center hosted diverse programming from a variety of genres including Jeff Dunham, Kings of Leon, Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum, as well as family shows and motorsports events.
