T-Mobile Center Adds More Than $660 Million to Missouri Economy in Five Years

Kansas City, MO (June 24, 2013) – An economic impact study released today shows that T-Mobile Center generated more than $660 million in added economic output and helped create 1,361 annual average jobs in the state of Missouri since its opening in October 2007. The study, released by T-Mobile Center and conducted by Development Strategies, Inc., detailed the impact to the area and state economy since T-Mobile Center began operations five years ago.

The study outlines the employment and financial impact of T-Mobile Center in three local economies: the City of Kansas City, Mo., the State of Missouri, and the Kansas City metropolitan area.

“These numbers speak to the tremendous economic impact T-Mobile Center has on Missouri on a year-to-year basis,” said Katie Steele Danner, director of the Missouri Division of Tourism. “We’re thrilled that T-Mobile Center continues to host world-class events that generate revenue for Kansas City and the State of Missouri.”

Highlights from the study include:
• T-Mobile Center attracted 5.6 million visitors during the five years since opening in October 2007.
• Taxes generated for the Missouri state treasury from this economic activity were estimated at $19   million.
• Taxes generated for the City of Kansas City were estimated at more than $9 million.
• T-Mobile Center directly employs more than 500 people and supports an additional 830 jobs in the bi-state metropolitan area and an additional 858 jobs through the State of Missouri.

The economic impact study calculated the economic multiplier for T-Mobile Center at 1.97 – for every $1.00 of spending related to T-Mobile Center, $1.97 in economic activity is generated.
