KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June.2, 2015)  – Farmland is donating 25,000 pounds of protein to Harvesters—The Community Food Network to help serve the Kansas City community. This significant donation is part of Farmland’s Helping Hungry Homes tour, the company’s coast-to-coast effort to help families and individuals become more food secure.

Representatives from Farmland will present the donation to Harvesters—The Community Food Network on Saturday, June 6 at 5:45 p.m. at T-Mobile Center, located at 1407 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, Mo. This donation event will coincide with the Farmland Bacon in Paradise Block Party before Saturday night’s show at T-Mobile Center.

President and CEO Valerie Nicholson-Watson. “Protein is such an important part of a healthy diet, and it is a food item that our clients want, but often find difficult to acquire.”

Smithfield Foods has a long history of stocking food banks, supporting after-school nutrition programs and providing food relief in the wake of natural disasters.
